Purpose/Summary of the Role
To be an Ambassador of Business and Enterprise, represent the views of Wansbeck businesses on the Panel and advise on issues which face the local business community. Particular emphasis on maximising and utilising the resources available to ensure the support provided meets the needs of the wider business community, whilst meeting the Forum’s targets for quality, cost and customer service. Requires a high commitment to challenging current practices, whilst embracing a continuous improvement approach.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements
Regularly attends monthly meetings and important related meetings and gives update on own projects, as appropriate.
Good knowledge of the issues faced by the local businesses. Liaises with the Business Community in the district and represent their views at Panel meetings, even if they are not shared by the individual.
Excellent communication skills and competent at raising awareness of business events and support available to the Business Community through networking and 1:1 meetings.
Stays informed about Panel matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
Makes serious commitment to participate actively in Panel work and is prepared to help set the agenda for meetings.
Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time.
Monitors and challenges operating practices and develops and implements new ideas, to ensure continuous improvement of the services offered by the Wansbeck Business Forum. Creative and prepared to generate and share ideas for future events. Foresight to shape the activities of Wansbeck Business Forum ‘paid’ officers.
Is an active participant in the Panel's annual evaluation and planning efforts. Reviews vision and objectives of the Wansbeck Business Forum and initiates any minor amendments, as required.
Gets to know other Panel Members and builds a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.
Works closely with other Panel Members to ensure a consistent message is delivered to the business community to help establish strong “branding”.
Proactive in the recruitment of additional Panel Members and participates in recruitment and assessment of new members, as required.
