An enterprising local lad has taken his years of experience in the wood and furniture restoration business and turned it into a new business venture.
Lee Butcher of Cramlington, Northumberland has worked in the trade for over 17 years and has worked as far afield as Croydon in London delivering a quality French polishing service.
The Wooden-Touch first opened its doors in August, operating from a unit at Fergusons Industrial Estate in West Sleekburn. “Initially we struggled finding affordable, suitable premises”, explains Lee, “Through N.E.W.S I was put in touch with Luke Dunnett who told me about the units at Fergusons. I found out the details such as cost, terms and conditions and size etc and decided straight away I wanted to base my business there. It literally happened that fast!”
Luke Dunnett, Commercial Premises Co-ordinator with the Wansbeck Business Forum said “I’m delighted that Lee chose to bring his business to Wansbeck where we have the facilities and perfect environment for his business to succeed and grow and I’m happy that I was able to aid him in locating premises. I’d like to wish Lee the very best of luck for the future.”
Lee’s services range from restoration of antique and modern furniture to bar re-fit jobs and he undertakes work from both contract and private clients. “It’s very exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time to launch your own business. I’m happy to say so far so good. Without undertaking any advertising we have had several clients and word of mouth referrals have kept the work coming in.
In the future I hope to be in a position to really expand the business and employ staff to allow us to undertake bigger jobs and in a greater volume.”
